Taxes

Taxes are money taken out of the economy to help fight inflation and keep the economy balanced.

Note: All accumulated taxes are voided out of the economy.

Every Thursday at 4 pm GMT, a 1% tax is charged to all player, town, and nation balances on the server.

For towns, taxes work a little differently. There are 2 kinds of Town Tax:

1- Citizen Tax- This is a daily tax that is applied to all residents of a town. The amount is specified by the mayor. This may be a flat number, a percentage of a player's balance, or there may be no citizen tax at all. Most towns opt for the last option. Note: This is the only tax that does not go to the server. Citizen Tax is deposited into the town balance.

2- Plot Tax- This is the amount the server charges town each day. It is based on the amount of land a town has claimed. The charge is $100 per plot per day.

Players can choose to set up bounties on other players. When a player with a bounty is slain, the cumulated bounty total minus the bounty tax is sent the the player who killed them. Bounty tax is 10% of the total bounty and is charged only when the player is killed and the bounty is awarded. For more info on bounties, see the Bounties Page.

Each towny server has it's own auction house where players can list items to sell. When any item is bought through the Auction House, a 5% tax is taken from the total selling price and the remainder after tax is sent to the seller.

In a similar fashion to the Auction House Tax, when any item is bought from an auction, a 5% tax is taken from the total selling price and the remainder after tax is sent to the seller.
